Pippa's story
“Pippa is my little superhero and I’m very proud to call her my daughter.”
Five year old Pippa was diagnosed with intermediate risk neuroblastoma in 2018. In August 2022, her mum Elisse is taking on the Royal Parks Challenge - trekking 45km, through all 10 of London's Royal Parks, in just one day. Elisse shares their story and tells us why they support Neuroblastoma UK.
Elisse and Pippa raised £1000 by walking 10,000 steps every day in April
Elisse says, "Pippa and I walked 10,000 steps together every day in April 2021 and raised nearly £1,000 for Neuroblastoma UK, which was brilliant.
But I knew I wanted to do something 'big' this year for their 40th anniversary, so I signed up earlier this month with a friend and my training has already started!
Pippa’s diagnosis and treatment
"Pippa was diagnosed with an intermediate risk neuroblastoma in 2018. It was devastating for our whole family. Initially she had to undergo many, many scans, invasive procedures and a major operation to remove most of the tumour in February 2019. Due to its location near her spine, some of the tumour had to be left behind. For months we were not sure whether further treatment would be needed and were lucky it wasn’t.
"Once we passed the two year post-op mark, the remaining tumour was deemed stable and we’re just in a stage on monitoring the remaining tumour, which is amazing news for us. Pippa still has to have regular MRI scans under general anaesthetic and will do for a couple more years, but we’re very lucky to be in the position we are!

"We are very aware that we have been very lucky with Pippa’s diagnosis and treatment. We’ve met many other brave children along the way who face a much tougher battle than she has. This is the reason I want to help and do more to support this fantastic charity.
